Large heads are well-protected!

Topic overview

Large, larger, largest
Supersized is hot!
Tips & tricks
Stylish on a grand scale

Large, larger, largest

Whether it’s oversized, large, plus sized or supersized – there is a demand for XXL. But at what point does your size become plus sized? This is easy to answer by looking at a few facts about the superlatives of size:

In the world of hats, sizes above 62 cm are considered plus sizes
This includes all sizing above XXL, 7 5/8 English inches or 7 ¾ American inches
Plus sizes often come in a wide range of flexible sizes, such as “one size fits all”

Plus sized hats

The size is key!

It is not a rare situation: Your hat pinches or presses on your head, your scarf is too short and your gloves are too tight. The consequences of this include headaches, numbness in the fingers or simply a bad mood because you have once again got the wrong size. Accessories must not be too loose either, otherwise they could blow away in the wind. So it’s clear: The size is key!

Perfect fit – Find the right size

The path to finding the right headgear depends on sizing. But why does it often feel so difficult to find the right size? The answer is simple: because you don’t know the correct circumference. Circumference is particularly important when it comes to hats and gloves. That is why you should know or get to know your head and hand circumference. To do this you will need just two things: A tape measure and a size chart. You can find step-by-step instructions on our website.

Supersized is hot!

Once you have figured out the correct size, you can begin your exciting search for the right accessory. We have a wide assortment of XXL hats, XXL caps and oversized beanies. There are, however, a few things to consider depending on what you are looking for. One thing we can guarantee: Supersized is hot!

Headgear

Whether man, woman or child, short hair or long hair – headgear is suitable for everyone. Even for those with large heads! So don’t worry there is a wide range of hats for big heads as well as caps for big heads and beanies for big heads. Simply filter your search by size. If your size is not in the list or if you want to have something that will fit several sizes to suit your hairstyle, you should pick flexible sizes such as “one size fits all”. Because a strap-back, elastic fitting or a stretch band mean you can customise some hats to suit you. Also look out for caps described as being flexi fit. This flexibility is a comfortable feature, especially for larger sizes.

Gloves

Cold fingers in the autumn or winter are a real no-go. Functionality, freedom of movement for the fingers and hands and protection against the cold are the key issues when searching for gloves. Here, too, it is important to know the right size for you. This is the only way to guarantee wearing comfort and cosy, warm fingers.

Multifunctional scarves

Whether you wear it as an attractive hairband, as headgear to protect against sunshine or as a face covering to protect against viruses and bacteria – as the name suggests, these scarves provide multifunctional protection and also come in larger sizes. In addition to their stylish looks, these practical accessories are easy to store in any bag and are versatile to use.

Scarves

Cosy, fluffy and warm. Scarves ensure you are perfectly equipped to deal with the colder months of the year. They encircle your neck like a cosy hug. Once again, the motto is: The bigger, the better! As an XXL accessory, scarves can be stylishly combined to create a modern oversized look and they go perfectly with knitted jumpers, long coats and casual beanies.

Women’s oversized scarf

Tips & tricks

Hat too tight or too big despite picking the correct size? Don’t leave your head out in the cold! Because by caring for the material properly and using our tips and tricks, you can maintain and even change the size of your accessory if necessary.

Proper care

Depending on its condition, the material of the accessory can stretch out, shrink or become brittle over time. That is why it is important to care for it properly in order to maintain its elasticity, stability and general lifespan. Particularly susceptible materials are felt or straw, whereas cotton and leather are easy to care for. You can find more information and care tips in our material guide.

Tip: The hat is too tight

The tension is growing – because your hat is too tight. Some materials will shrink over time. This ends up making the hat too small. This can be counteracted by using a hat stretcher. Place the hat stretcher in the hat and adjust so that it sits well, without stretching the hat too much. This simple process means the hat can be widened by around 1 cm depending on the hat’s trim. This easy process keeps your favourite hat fitting like it did on the first day!

Tip: The hat is too loose

It just doesn’t want to stay on. If the hat becomes too big or stretches out over the course of time, it doesn’t mean it’s all over. Because there is a simple solution: cork inserts. By inserting cork strips behind the hat band, the circumference of a hat can be somewhat reduced – and it should then fit like a glove again. The cork inserts are made of a renewable raw material that it is extracted from the bark of the cork oak tree. So it’s a win-win: Your favourite hat fits again and it doesn’t harm the environment!

Stylish on a grand scale

Many brands have long recognised the demand for larger sizes. This includes brands such as New Era, Stetson and Lierys. In addition to big brands and large sizes, our diverse range of products also has a wide selection for you to choose from. Because we believe: Bigger is better. Discover your favourite accessory at Hatshopping and fall in love – on a grand scale.
